In this case, we uncover a large cavity under the white filling.

The size of cavity is too big to be repaired by a simple filling. Usually a crown is prepared.

However, we believe in conserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. An Onlay was placed instead of crown.

Onlay is basically half of a crown. It will replace the missing tooth structure without the aggressive reduction of healthy natural tooth structure

Dark roots

Dark roots is difficult to hide. Its caused by corrosion of previous metal crowns. It also shown through gum tissue around the roots. In this case, we did a pretty good job covering up.

please note that the darkness showing through the gum is gone
